Music

The other current running under everything else here — three decades of sailing, painting, sculpture and writing, threaded through with music the whole way.

Michel Lippitsch describes himself as a synergist at heart — curious, an environmentalist, and an ethnographer deeply attuned to the rhythms of life and the biosphere. Music runs alongside the rest of the work the same way sailing, cooking, diving, photography, painting and sculpture do — one discipline feeding the next. Sea chanteys on the deck of the RV Heraclitus, campfire sessions on Jong-racing nights at Teluk Bakau, evenings at Planet Samudra Cafe: after decades of putting that restlessness into other mediums, he is now composing and releasing it as sound, from Bintan, Indonesia.
